Hong Kong is a tourist friendly place and I can testify to that since it is also the first country that I visited. Yet, I have a list of tips for you in case you happen to also visit Hong Kong for the first time.
- Be early in the airport - It is a must if you are a first timer, if you can be in the airport as early as three hours before flight please do so. Being early means you have an ample time to spend with regards in checking in and immigrations
- Familiarize yourself with Hong Kong - One week before flying to Hong Kong or any country you wish to visit soon, do a little research about their food, customs, culture and traditions. Know the do’s and dont’s.
- If you plan to do a DIY (Do it yourself) trip - Try visiting this sites https://www.klook.com/ or https://m.kkday.com/en, if helps a lot specially for a first timer. I did visit klook a month before flying to Hong Kong and bought some discounted
- Download useful applications (apps) - If this was your first time in Hong Kong do download this apps that you can use while staying there.
MTR MOBILE - A very useful app that can be use in navigating which rail line you’ll riding to arrive at your destination.
Google Map - Though I didn’t use this much when we were Hong Kong, I still recommend you to download this as it may use as a guide when you get lost.
Google Translate - Though most of the people in Hong Kong can easily communicate in english but better I suggest you to download this in order to be sure that was my mistake before when we went in Hong Kong because we met some people who can’t communicate in english (esp in local food stalls)
Klook - Best site to buy discounted coupons especially for Disneyland and Hong Kong Ocean Park. You may also download kkday app for finding the best prices.
- Bring lots a cash - I suggest to bring an extra US Dollar cash aside from the HK Dollar pocket money that you have. It is more advisable to bring extra US Dollars than the PH Peso because the exchange rates in Hong Kong in terms of PH Peso is terrible. Also, if you plan to have a shopping spree in Hong Kong it is useful to have extra cash as the prices here are high whether it is food, clothing or pasalubong.
- Enjoy the trip - this is my last advice with you! Enjoy the trip and enjoy every minute of it. Thid is the best advice that I can give to you whether if you plan for a DIY trip or through a travel agency trip.
